Discord is an instant messaging and digital distribution platform that enables users to communicate with voice calls, video calls, text messaging, media, upload images, gifts as files, and private chats, or as part of communities called servers. There are different ways to post images and GIFs on discord.
Discord GIFs
GIF, also known as a graphics interchange format, digital file format devised in 1987 by the Internet service provider CompuServe as a means of reducing the size of images and short animations.
You can choose GIFs from discord because it has its library. The GIFs are sorted into different categories according to the theme, such as excited, dance, and hungry. There’s also a category for ‘trending GIFs’. You can access these GIFs on both Desktop and Mobile.
The first method to post a GIF onto Discord is by uploading a GIF file from your phone gallery or document. You can upload a file by
Uploading
- Open the Discord app
- Enter one of your servers
- Tap on the plus icon beside the message box, and then select ‘upload a file.
- Choose a GIF file to upload, and then double-click on the file.
- You can add some text to the message if you like before you tap send
- When done, tap send the GIF to post it.
Note: Make sure that the GIF is less than 8MB in size, otherwise the file will not upload.
Another method for posting a GIF on Discord is by dragging and dropping a GIF file.
Dragging & Dropping a GIF File
Make sure that Discord is currently open, and locate the GIF file you wish to upload. You can make this happen by minimizing your document window. For successful uploading, the GIF file must be less than 8MB. Once you’ve found the GIF file, long-click on it and drag it onto Discord. Then, upload the file and send the GIF to post it.
On Desktop
- Launch the Discord app, and click on the emoji icon.
- Locate the emoji icon on the right side of the message box.
- Then, click on the ‘GIFs’
- Tab to access Discord’s GIF collection.
- Choose from the set of GIF categories
- Select the one you like most, you can also choose to search for GIFs using the search bar.
On Mobile
- Open the Discord app on your smartphone
- Tap on the emoji icon in the bottom right.
- Then navigate to the ‘GIFs’ tab to access Discord’s GIF library.
- The GIFs are based on categories according to their theme.
- Select one of the categories to access a series of GIFs.
- Then tap on the GIFs to post
